We look forward to hearing from you!
In most cases, yes we can and we would always want to provide you with the most cost effective option. We would never advise you to replace a window when it can be repaired but sometimes a replacement is the only option.
Unfortunately we do not offer a service to repair blinds as we cannot guarantee the workmanship and it is not cost effective for you to pay for our call out fee to repair this, plus we aren’t able to source the parts for it, therefore we would recommend a replacement. If the blind is less than 3 years old it will still be under guarantee with VELUX® so please liaise with them if this is the case on 01592 778225.
If you would like a quote for a replacement blind please please contact us.
Matt used to work for VELUX as a service technician and we have a huge amount of experience dealing with faulty VELUX electrics. There are several different points in the system where the electrics may fail and we will check it all over for you. Sometimes, it’s a simple as a reset, but other times we we may need to replace componenents of the system or if the system is too old and parts are obselete then an upgrade to the system maybe required.
Good question! There are a number of issues that may cause a leak with a VELUX roof window. I would first suggest checking certain aspects of the window to ensure these are not causing a leak.
Check all of the metal cover parts on the outside of the window to ensure they are not out of place, loose, cracked, bent or damaged in any way. No part of the window frame should be visible at all externally when closed and should be covered by a metal cover part. If any parts are missing they will need to be replaced.
Please also ensure that the surrounds of the window are free of any leaves or debris which could stop rainwater draining away normally and contribute to leaks forming.
There will also be a groove along the bottom of your window between the glass and the material of the frame. This groove is used to channel away any condensation which may build up. This leads to a drain hole at the right and left hand corner of the window. If either of these drainage holes have been blocked their effectiveness will be reduced which will result in excessive condensation build up at the bottom corners of the window which will spread over time. If this has happened to your window the drainage holes and groove will need to be cleared.
The pitch of your roof and the type of flashing used can also cause a leak. The minimum pitch for a VELUX® window is fifteen degrees dependant on which flashing type has been used. If you are unsure if this is correct please advise us of your roof pitch and the type of flashing which has been used. If you can please advise the type of roofing material. For example, tiles or slate and the material thickness this would be very helpful. If you are unsure of your roof pitch please see the below link which will help you to calculate this.

We are also more than happy to look at any photographs of the window to see if we can determine what is causing this issue. If you can please take a few photographs of the exterior incorporating the window itself, the flashing and surrounding roofing material to allow us to see the full installation and also some internal photographs to show us where the water ingress is, we can then advise further. We would also need the window codes if possible, here is a link if you are unsure how to obtain these: https://youtu.be/N2VVKHQvpDs
Our call out fee depends on your location and ranges from £110 - £150+VAT. We only charge a call out fee if we are able to repair your VELUX issue there and then, and it covers the first hour for any repair work required, it is then £100+VAT per hour thereafter should this be needed (any parts required will be additional to this cost). If we are unable to repair we do not charge a call out fee and will send you a quote for remedial work required.
Nope! We will try our best to obtain as much information as possible over email via photos and finding the codes from your windows and if we need to come and take a look we will book this in for you. We do not charge for our time to send you a quote and all quotes are no obligation. We pride ourselves on not pressuring you and giving you freedom of choice. Every quote is bespoke to your requirements.
Please do email or call us with as much information as you can so we can progress your enquiry as far as we can, we send quotes from photos if we have enough information to do so which saves you having to be in for multiple visits. If we need further information or a site visit we would let you know and arrange this as necessary.
We sure are! We are registered with Certass which is the same as FENSA and provides you with all the relevant building regulation certifcates you need when replacing any window in your property. We also provide a free insured backed guarantee with all our replacement windows giving you complete peace of mind.
Our workmanship for replacement windows is 5 years and all other works is 12 months.
All window replacements are completed from the inside and unless your roof is near vertical (mansard) we wouldn’t need external scaffold to complete works. It is a simple process to remove your existing VELUX window and replace with a new one as the sizes are mostly the same which means there is minimal disruption to the internal décor. We have lots of examples of replacement windows on our facebook page (link). If there is a need for internal re-decoration we would endeavour to complete this but if the re-decoration is extensive we would recommend alternative solutions for you such as a plasterer or decorator. This only happens on very rare occasions where the plasterwork around the existing VELUX® windows is old and can be disturbed by the removal of your existing roof window.
We only replace VELUX® or Roto roof windows. We do not work with flat roofs as this requires the specialism of a roofer.
No. We quote for what is required and there are no unforeseen charges (unless internal redecoration is required, which can be unforeseen).
Of course we will. We pride ourselves on treating your home like our own.
Information in relation to the timing of your appointment:
Due to the nature of our work we cannot be specific with timings as we have several factors to combat, namely:
This is why we allow for a timeslot by calling you at 9am once we have assessed the route, number of calls and weather.
We know that timings are important for you to plan your day, but; what we don’t want to do is, over promise and under deliver as this is not how we work.
Many thanks for your co-operation with us and thank you for your custom, we really do appreciate it.
No – we don’t take deposits, we will send you an invoice on completion of works via xero, where you have the option to pay using Stripe via credit or debit card (including Amex) or send a Bank transfer, within 7 days of invoice date. Cash can also be given to the installers if this is your preferred payment method.
